This week's show goes back in time to the tastes and treats of 18th-century England.

Food scholar, Gilly Lehmann, is the author of The British Housewife: Cookery Books, Cooking and Society in 18th-Century Britain and she has done much to change the way we understand the 18th-century culinary world by using cookbooks to uncover the cultural importance of food in the period. She introduces us to new tastes like sugar and tea, traditional dishes like fricassee, and updated desserts like Syllabub.

Ivan Day, food historian and host of the new television series, Hungry for the Past, invites us to the table at William Wordsworth's childhood home. Here he cooks up chestnut soup, flummery, posset, and even macaroni with cheese. We finish off our Grand Culinary Tour with a late 18th-century fad, Royal Ice Cream, and find out about the courses Ivan offers 21st-century food enthusiasts.
